A technology group that also makes slots

Slots are a sideline for Inspired. The group’s core business has long been virtual sports and terminals for betting shops, and that retail heritage is visible in everything it puts online. Golden Winner, for instance, is at heart a pub fruit machine, updated with a bonus loop of the modern kind. For UK players, that makes the games feel immediately familiar. Next to studios that were born online, it also makes them fairly modest in scale.

Golden Winner on the spec sheet

Our Inspired listing is Golden Winner. Confirmed figures:

RTP94.50%

Release date7 July 2023

According to Inspired’s game page, this is a 5×3, 10-line slot using classic symbols. Three bonus scatters award free spins, beginning at a minimum of 10. A 12-step trail then hands out extra spins and lifts a multiplier as you climb it. Our review highlights the dual role of the golden bell: it gathers up the values sitting on cherry symbols, and it pushes the trail along.

Two optional modes let Inspired adjust the maths:

  • Fortune Bet increases the stake to 1.5x in exchange for improved odds of landing the bonus.
  • Fortune Spins strips out the non-collector symbols.

Neither mode changes the basic truth that the game pays back less than it takes in over time. They alter the spread of outcomes, nothing more.

Two RTP settings, both under 96%

On its Golden Winner page, Inspired gives a choice of two RTPs, 92% and 94.5%, and labels the volatility as medium. Beyond that, we found no studio-level RTP information we could verify. Both settings fall short of the 96% that online-first studios commonly use, which is consistent with a design carried across from retail machines. SlotSpecs shows the 94.5% build.

From shop terminals to Bell-Fruit

When it announced its 2016 deal, Inspired presented itself as a provider of Server-Based Gaming, Virtual Sports and Mobile Gaming systems, operating upwards of 25,000 digital gaming terminals. Today its website splits the business into four divisions: Interactive, Hybrid Dealer, Retail Solutions and Virtual Sports.

For the slots, the pivotal moment was October 2019, when Inspired closed its purchase of the Gaming Technology Group from Novomatic UK. Six companies came with it, AstraGames Limited and Bell-Fruit Group Limited among them. Bell-Fruit makes fruit machines in Britain, and Inspired credits Golden Winner to its Bell-Fruit studio.

Ownership: the Hydra deal and since

Inspired came to market via a special-purpose acquisition company. On 23 December 2016, Hydra Industries Acquisition Corp. finalised a business combination with Inspired Gaming Group, turning the latter into a wholly owned subsidiary. The enlarged business was renamed Inspired Entertainment, Inc. and is listed on Nasdaq as INSE. At the time, it gave New York and London as its headquarters.

We looked for any subsequent change of control and did not find one. An SEC filing from Inspired dated 18 May 2026, covering a new chief financial officer, still names Inspired Entertainment, Inc. as the reporting entity. Ownership today therefore matches the 2016 structure, with Inspired Gaming beneath Inspired Entertainment, Inc.

Operating details come from the game’s own page. Inspired Gaming (UK) Limited has its registered office in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, is licensed by the Great Britain Gambling Commission (account number 1090), and carries recognition from the Malta Gaming Authority. No primary source gave us a founding year, so we have left that field empty.

The players Inspired serves best

  • UK fruit-machine regulars who want the familiar look plus a more readable bonus.
  • Fans of one clear progression, like a trail, over a pile of overlapping features.
  • Medium-volatility players content with a 2,500x ceiling.

If you are chasing very large top multipliers or grid mechanics, look elsewhere.
