Three reviewed slots, three very different machines behind the same kind of label. Each keeps most of its value in a bonus, but the place that value is stored differs. In Big Bass Splash it builds in a counter, in Huff N’ Even More Puff Grand it depends on which wheel you reach, and in Duck Hunters it accumulates on the grid itself. That difference explains more about how each plays than the volatility label does.
All figures below are taken from our game records and from each studio’s own pages. The multipliers are design limits, not reported results.
Spec sheet for all three
| Game | Studio | Layout | Volatility (our record) | Top RTP | Lower RTP builds | Cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Big Bass Splash | Pragmatic Play | 5×3, 10 lines | High | 96.71% | 95.67%, 94.60% | 5,000x |
| Huff N’ Even More Puff Grand | Light & Wonder | 5×3, 243 ways | High | 96% | 94%, 92%, 90%, 87% | 10,000x |
| Duck Hunters | Nolimit City | 6×5, scatter pays | Extreme | 96.05% | None verified | 30,000x |
Nolimit City places Duck Hunters in its Extreme band, one level above High, and we keep the studio’s label instead of folding it into the High group.
Value in a counter: Big Bass Splash
Pragmatic Play explains the whole feature briefly. Three, four or five scatters award 10, 15 or 20 free spins, during which wilds collect fish symbols worth as much as 5,000x. Every fourth wild collected retriggers the round with 10 extra spins and steps up the multiplier: 2x after the first retrigger, 3x after the second, 10x after the third. Up to five modifiers, such as additional fish, wilds or spins, can be applied before the round begins.
The volatility lives in that ladder. A fish picked up after the third retrigger is worth ten times what it was at the start, while a round that never collects its fourth wild tends to finish small. In the base game there is no fisherman wild, so fish landing there cannot be collected. Pragmatic’s launch release from 23 June 2022 backs up both the cap of 5,000x and the ten-line 5×3 reel set.
Its ceiling is the lowest of the three, so its swings are the narrowest. The pattern is the same, though: one feature holds most of the value.
Value in the wheel: Huff N’ Even More Puff Grand
On Light & Wonder’s iGaming page, maximum exposure is given as 10,000x, alongside five RTP builds running from 96% down to 87%. The write-up mentions frames in four grades (Straw, Stick, Brick, Diamond), wheels that can be enhanced as far as Super and Ultra tiers, and the houses, mansions and palaces exposed when the wolf blows.
Our review traces that progression. Buzz Saw scatters choose the wheel, and the largest fixed prize is found only on the Ultra Wheel. The path to 10,000x is a rare chain of upgrades, not simply a strong run of free spins, and the first obstacle is reaching the Ultra Wheel at all.
The spread of RTP versions matters more here than usual. Over the long run the 87% build pays back nine units fewer per 100 staked than the 96% build, with no visible difference on screen. The RTP explainer covers why such a gap only appears across very large samples.
Value on the grid: Duck Hunters
Nolimit City’s page describes a scatter-pays grid where a win needs eight or more matching symbols. A position cleared by a win receives a x2 multiplier, and each later win on the same position doubles it, as far as x8192. xWays symbols multiply a position’s value by 2, 4 or 8, and Bombs wipe out a 3×3 block. Position multipliers survive from spin to spin in free spins, which are entered through Duck Hunt, Hawk Eye or Big Game rounds for three, four or five bonus symbols.
The studio also discloses the maths. Hit frequency is 17.07%, free spins arrive roughly once in 203 spins, and the 30,000x maximum has a 1 in 22 million chance. When total wins go past the cap the round stops and 30,000x is paid.
With under one spin in five returning anything, and a ceiling reached through compounding multipliers, the Extreme rating fits.
The common thread
Higher caps generally bring fewer paying spins and more reliance on a single sequence. Still, it is the mechanics, the counter, the wheel and the grid, that set these three apart. No route here can be timed, and a bonus is never made more likely by a long wait for it. For the vocabulary, see our paytable reading guide and the features glossary, and all three games run free on virtual coins.
