The spec sheet first
Sugar Rush 1000 arrived from Pragmatic Play in March 2024 as a rebuild of the 2022 Sugar Rush. Before any commentary, here are the rules that define it.

What the numbers say, in brief
Almost everything here is borrowed from the earlier game: the 49-cell board, the tumbles, the scatter scale. One value has moved. A multiplier spot used to stop at x128; now it keeps climbing to x1,024. The published ceiling follows, rising from 5,000x to 25,000x the bet.
That single edit shifts where the game keeps its value. A bigger slice of the long-run return now sits inside uncommon feature rounds in which the same cells are struck again and again. Pragmatic Play classes it as High volatility. RTP depends on the build an operator has installed, so treat the rules screen as the authority (the versions are covered further down). The natural audience is someone who enjoys seeing a board fill with multipliers over a feature and can live with long, flat spells in between.
Counting the doubling ladder
The spot mechanic is the engine, so it is worth stepping through slowly. Pragmatic’s rules describe it in stages. A winning symbol that explodes leaves its cell marked. A second winning explosion on that marked cell turns it into a x2 spot. Every later explosion in the same place doubles the figure, until the ceiling is hit.
Lay the steps out and the difference becomes plain:
- Win one on a cell: marked, no multiplier yet.
- Win two: x2.
- Wins three to eight: x4, x8, x16, x32, x64 and then x128.
- Wins nine to eleven (new in this version): x256, x512 and x1,024.
In the 2022 game, a cell had nothing more to offer once it reached x128 on its eighth win. Here the same cell still has three rungs left, and each rung doubles what it is worth. A spot that would have been finished is, in this version, only part of the way up.
When a cluster sits on several spots
A second rule amplifies the first. According to published summaries of the rules, if one cluster overlaps more than one multiplier spot, the values are summed instead of multiplied together. So a cluster across two x1,024 spots is paid at x2,048, rather than the astronomical x1,048,576 that multiplying would give. Summing keeps the figures bounded, yet a large cluster stretched across many strong cells is still rewarded heavily.
The third ingredient is how long spots survive. In normal play, every marked cell and multiplier is wiped as soon as the tumble chain finishes. Inside free spins, they persist until the round closes. That is why the raised ceiling is mostly a feature-round story. A base game chain seldom stacks enough wins on a single cell to pass x128, whereas a feature of 10 to 30 spins, with retriggers on top, gives the same cells time to keep growing.
Put another way: in the older game, a long feature tended to fill with spots that had already maxed out. Sugar Rush 1000 leaves far more room above them, and that spare room is the source of the 25,000x figure.
The base game: 49 cells and a tumble loop
Each spin drops a symbol into all 49 positions. A win needs five or more of the same symbol joined horizontally or vertically; diagonal contact does not count and there are no lines to follow. Winning groups disappear, everything above slides down, fresh symbols fall in from the top, and the board is checked again. The loop runs until nothing new connects.
Every explosion in that loop marks or upgrades a cell under the rules above. A spin with a long chain may leave several marks and lift one or two cells to x2 or x4 before the board resets. In the base game, multipliers mostly come from chains that keep striking the same patch of the grid.
Seven sweets make up the paytable. Smaller clusters pay least and clusters of 15 or more pay most:
| Symbol | Smallest cluster | 15+ cluster |
|---|---|---|
| Top sweet | 1x | 150x |
| Second sweet | 0.75x | 100x |
| Third sweet | 0.5x | 60x |
| Fourth sweet | 0.4x | 40x |
| Gummy symbols (three) | 0.3x, 0.25x and 0.2x | 30x, 25x and 20x |
These are bet multiples before any spot is applied. Fifteen or more of the top sweet pays 150x by itself; put that cluster on a x64 spot and the payout becomes 9,600x. The table on its own is modest. The spots supply most of the upside.
A hit rate of about 1 in 2.9 spins is the widely quoted figure, so roughly one spin in three returns something, typically a small group of low-paying gummies. With five linked symbols needed on a 49-cell board, minimum clusters are common and groups of 15 or more of one sweet are scarce. In practice, then, the multiplier under a cluster counts for much more than the top line of the paytable.
Inside the feature: spots that stay
Getting in
Scatters open the round on a fixed scale: three gives 10 spins, four gives 12, five gives 15, six gives 20 and seven gives 30. They count across a whole tumble sequence, so a spin that opens with two scatters can reach the trigger as the board refills.
The reported trigger rate is about once every 323 base spins. That is an average over a very long run, not a timetable. A dry stretch does not make the next trigger more likely, and two features close together are just as possible as a long wait. Every spin stands alone.
The one rule that changes
For the length of the round, marked cells and their values stay where they are. New tumbles can add fresh marks or raise existing ones. Halfway through a long feature, sections of the board may already carry multipliers before the reels even drop.
Extra spins
Landing three to seven scatters inside the feature adds 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 more spins, the same table as the trigger. Spots already on the board carry straight over. That makes retriggers unusually valuable: each extra spin is another chance to push cells that are already high.
Super Free Spins
The pricier buy launches Super Free Spins, described as available only through the buy and not through normal play. It starts with multipliers already placed on the board, so early tumbles can pay boosted amounts at once. Descriptions differ on the starting pattern: some list a tiered design (x16 at the centre with x8, x4 and x2 rings around it), others list flat x2 starting spots. The rules screen shows which applies.
In both cases the purpose is the same: to skip the opening stage of a round, where cells must be marked before they add anything.
RTP builds and the volatility meter
Pragmatic Play’s game page states 96.00%. Other builds are listed at 97.50%, 96.53% and 95.50%, and a 94.50% setting has also been reported. The operator picks the build, and the help screen shows the RTP for the one running. That is the only figure that applies to your session, so reading the rules before settling in is sensible.
The meaning of those figures is simple to state. RTP is an average over an enormous number of spins. A 96.53% build is designed to hand back 96.53 coins for every 100 staked across its lifetime; a 95.50% build hands back 95.50. Over one evening, that gap disappears under normal swings. Over millions of spins, it is a genuine difference.
Volatility is why a short session can land so far from the stated RTP. Pragmatic Play rates Sugar Rush 1000 High, and its in-game meter is widely reported at 5 of 5. The raised ceiling explains the rating: a large part of the return is held back for rare rounds in which cells pass x128 and big clusters fall on them. The frequent base game hits, about one spin in three, return far less than 96% by themselves.
Feature buys: 100x and 500x
Where the platform allows it, two buys are on offer:
- Free Spins, 100x the bet. Opens the regular round on a clean board with no marks. Published RTP for this buy: 96.52%.
- Super Free Spins, 500x the bet. Opens with multipliers already placed. Published RTP: 96.55%, though some builds show 96.44%, so confirm on the buy screen or in the rules.
Both buy figures sit near the top base game RTPs, so buying does not meaningfully lift the long-run return. What it does is skip the base game and squeeze the results into fewer, costlier rounds. At 500x each, a handful of buys eats a lot of virtual coins, and plenty of rounds will pay back less than they cost.
For the 2022 game, the buy is reported as switched off in the UK. Buys are often disabled market by market, so do not count on seeing either button. The price also scales with the stake: change the bet and each buy costs proportionally more or less.
How the 25,000x ceiling is reached
Pragmatic Play’s game page lists the max win as 25,000x the bet, five times the 5,000x of the earlier game. No odds of reaching it are published. Read it as a limit written into the maths, not something an ordinary session should be expected to produce.
Several things have to line up together:
- A feature that runs long enough, usually with retriggers, for cells to rise well beyond x128.
- Clusters of the higher-paying sweets landing on those cells.
- More than one strong spot summed inside the same cluster.
The top sweet at 15 or more pays 150x before spots, so 25,000x needs summed multipliers in the low hundreds under one large cluster, or a string of strong tumbles back to back. The x1,024 ceiling makes that achievable in principle; with x128 it could not happen. As with Pragmatic’s other titles that state a max win, the number is a cap rather than a typical big result.
Side by side with the 2022 Sugar Rush
| Spec | Sugar Rush (2022) | Sugar Rush 1000 |
|---|---|---|
| Launch | June 2022 (16 June exclusive, 30 June general) | March 2024 |
| Board and wins | 7×7, clusters of 5+ | 7×7, clusters of 5+ |
| Spot ceiling | x128 | x1,024 |
| Max win | 5,000x | 25,000x |
| RTP | 96.50% on Pragmatic’s page; 96.50%, 95.5% and 94.5% builds listed | Build-dependent (see above) |
| Volatility | High (5/5) | High |
| Free spins table | 10/12/15/20/30 for 3 to 7 scatters | 10/12/15/20/30 for 3 to 7 scatters |
| Buys | 100x free spins (market-dependent) | 100x Free Spins, 500x Super Free Spins |
The foundations match exactly: board size, cluster minimum, scatter table and spot rules. Three things change: the ceiling, the max win and the new Super Free Spins buy. That is the pattern across Pragmatic’s “1000” range, which takes a proven title and raises its top multiplier rather than adding fresh mechanics.
If the 2022 version already swung too hard for you, this one swings harder. If its x128 limit seemed to cut promising rounds short, this version removes that limit.
Strengths and weak spots
Where it works
- Three extra doublings past x128 let strong feature rounds keep building where the older game stalled.
- The rule set is lean: one board, one spot mechanic, one feature, nothing else to learn.
- Spots survive retriggers, so added spins build on value already in place.
- The 25,000x ceiling is five times higher than the 2022 game’s.
Where it falls short
- RTP rests on the operator’s chosen build, so the help screen has to be checked.
- With High volatility, a large share of the return arrives through rare rounds.
- Published accounts disagree on the Super Free Spins starting pattern, so the rules screen is worth reading.
Is it a fit for you?
It tends to suit players who:
- Enjoy a board that fills up across a feature, with each tumble able to lift cells already in play.
- Are comfortable with High volatility and long base game runs of small clusters.
- Know the 2022 game and want its rules with far more room at the top.
It is less suited to anyone after steady, even outcomes or features that pay off quickly. The base paytable is thin, and nearly all of the appeal lives in the multipliers.
Sugar Rush 1000: common questions
Which RTP does Sugar Rush 1000 use?
That varies by build. The studio’s own page gives 96.00%, while builds at 97.50%, 96.53%, 95.50% and 94.50% are also on record. Open the in-game rules to see which one is loaded.
What is the highest value a spot can reach?
x1,024. The first win on a cell only marks it, the second sets x2, and every win after that doubles the value. Eleven wins on one cell take it all the way to the cap.
Are marked spots kept from one spin to the next?
Only in the feature. In the base game they wipe once the tumble chain ends; in free spins they remain on the grid until the last spin.
What does it take to start free spins?
At least three scatters. Three, four, five, six or seven give 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 spins, and the same scale applies when three or more land inside the round.
How big is the top payout?
It is capped at 25,000x the bet, five times the 5,000x of the 2022 game. Getting near it needs a long feature with big clusters sitting on several high spots.
How does it differ from the 2022 Sugar Rush?
The older game caps spots at x128 and pays up to 5,000x. This one lifts those to x1,024 and 25,000x and adds a Super Free Spins buy at 500x. Grid, cluster minimum and scatter scale are unchanged.
Is there a feature buy?
Yes, where the platform switches it on: 100x the bet for standard free spins, or 500x for Super Free Spins, which start with multipliers already placed. Some markets remove it.
How volatile is it?
Very. Pragmatic Play labels it High and the in-game meter sits at 5 of 5.
